We have not appointed a data protection officer because we are not legally required to do so. For all privacy questions, please contact the email address above.

2. Overview

The website provides information about our company and our apps. You can use it without telling us anything about yourself. To see how the website is used, we count visits with an analytics tool that we host ourselves and that does not use cookies (section 5). We do not use tracking or advertising services, do not embed third-party content (such as fonts, videos or maps) and do not use cookies for analytics or advertising.

3. Hosting

The website is operated by a technical service provider on a server of DigitalOcean, LLC, 105 Edgewater Place, Suite 200, Wakefield, MA 01880, USA, in a data centre in Amsterdam (Netherlands).

To deliver the website to you, the server has to briefly process your IP address and the technical information sent by your browser (such as the requested page and browser type). Requests to the website are not logged; we do not keep access log files. Only if a technical error occurs while a page is being delivered does the web server write an entry to an error log, which may contain your IP address, the date and time and the requested address. We use these entries solely to fix malfunctions; they are deleted automatically after 14 days.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the website and operating it without disruption (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Cookies

The website sets only one cookie: NEXT_LOCALE stores the language (German or English) in which the pages are shown to you, so that short addresses such as alphac.tech/privacy open in the same language on your next visit. The cookie contains only the language code, is not analysed and is deleted after one year. It is strictly necessary to display the website in the way you requested (Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG); the legal basis for the processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. You can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time.

5. Visit statistics (Umami)

To understand which pages and apps interest visitors, we use Umami, an open-source analytics tool that runs on our own server (section 3); no data is passed to the provider of Umami or to other third parties. Umami does not set cookies and stores nothing on your device. It records, in aggregate: the pages viewed, the referring website, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, country (derived from your IP address, which is then discarded and not stored), and clicks on store links, the email address and the language selection. Umami does not store IP addresses or other identifiers that could recognise you across websites or days.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, your visit is not counted. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time (section 8), for example by enabling Do Not Track or blocking the address alphac.tech/stats in your browser.

6. Contacting us by email

If you contact us by email, we process your email address, your name (if provided) and the content of your message to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request relates to a contract, and otherwise our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the data once your request has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations (in particular under commercial and tax law) apply.

Our mailboxes are provided by Proton AG, Route de la Galaise 32, 1228 Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland. There is an adequacy decision of the EU Commission for Switzerland.

7. Recipients and transfers outside the EU

Data is only received by the service providers named in sections 3 and 6. DigitalOcean, LLC is based in the USA, so access from the USA cannot be ruled out. Transfers take place on the basis of the EU Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, under which DigitalOcean is certified, and on the basis of the EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access your data (Art. 15 GDPR);
  • rectification (Art. 16 GDPR);
  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR);
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR);
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR).

To exercise your rights, simply email admin@alphac.tech.

Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): Where we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then no longer process the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is: Unabhängiges Datenschutzzentrum Saarland (Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Fritz-Dobisch-Straße 12, 66111 Saarbrücken, Germany.

9. Other information

You are not obliged to provide personal data; without the technical data described in section 3, however, the website cannot be delivered. There is no automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR. The website is transmitted in encrypted form only (HTTPS).

10. Changes

We update this privacy policy when the website or the services we use change. The current version is always available at this address.

This English version is provided for convenience. In the event of discrepancies, the German version prevails.
